The Extension Unit will inspire to achieve increased involvement of farmers in planning, implementing and monitoring of the Work Programme. There Unit will act as an ‘incubator’ to farmers, where every farm becomes an entity to grow, given the prevailing reality and outlook. As such, to broaden engagement is of paramount significance not only to build farmers but build sounder relationships with them. To achieve this, the Extension Officer himself must become increasingly confident and relevant. The Unit’s outlook involves rethinking, retraining and retooling to develop with farmers and other stakeholders more viable enterprises on successful farms.
