New Forest Policy Being Developed for Dominica

Work has started on developing a new forest policy for Dominica, to replace the current 60-year old policy which dates back to 1949. The new policy will significantly improve on what presently exists, and will address new and emergent trends relative to sustainably managing the forestry sector as a whole.

Government of Dominica Launches 2008 National Annual Agricultural Review Consultancy

2008 ARRThe Governments of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, St. Lucia, and St. Vincent & the Grenadines, in conjunction with the European Commission (EC) and the Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO), have launched a consultancy for conducting a Regional Annual Agricultural Review. Funding for this consultancy was secured under the Special Framework of Assistance 2006 (SFA 2006) financing instrument which is currently being administered by the FAO under the auspices of the EC. An Inception Workshop, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, FAO, and WHITCO Inc. was held at the Dominica Public Service Union Conference Room on Friday 24th Apri, 2009 to kick-start the process.

IICA Holds 2008 National Accountability Seminar
IICA SeminarThe Fort Young Hotel was the venue for the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) 2008 National Accountability Seminar. The event was hosted by IICA, The Government of Dominica, and the Organization of American States and outlined IICA's contribution to the development of agriculture and rural communities in Dominica for 2008. The seminar was attended by officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Ministry of Tourism, IICA, OAS, and many other stakeholders from the agricultural sector.
