and organizations island wide and one (1) Fisheries Officer from Monday May 17th – Friday May 28th, 2010. The workshop will be held at the Caribbean Fisheries Training and Development Institute (CFTDI) in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Sea Food Technology Programme is seen as being critical to the further development, viability and diversification of Dominica’s fisheries industry, since, it enhances the capacities and technological competencies of the National Association of Fisherfolk Cooperatives (NAFCOOP), its Affiliates and the Fisheries Division in a number of important areas such as: Fin Fish Handling and Processing, Salt Curing and Drying of Fish, Smoking of Fish, Shellfish Handling and Processing, Fish and Shellfish Marinades, Quality Control Procedures for Fresh, Frozen and Cured Fish Products, Quality Assurance in Fish and Fishery Products, Fish Inspection, Utilization of Fish in Salads, Fish Handling for Vessel Operators and Merchandising of Fish.  Additionally it is envisaged that the training will provide the platform for introducing commercial fish processing as a means of producing value added products in the local fisheries sector.
